Thanks for taking the time to answer a few questions, please tell us a little about your label

● What/who inspired you into setting up a record label

I was inspired by all of the great labels from all over the world that put out music by the bands that I love. Lookout records is a definite inspiration but more recently I’d have to say that the big 3 that made me really want to try to go for it are Monster Zero, Stardumb and Eccentric Pop Records, I was actually mentored and given valuable advice on how to start/run a record label by Travis from eccentric pop so without his help I would not be doing what I am doing today. He runs the best label in the USA by a long shot and I am forever in his debt.

● What’s been your highlights as a label to date ?

Working with all of the great bands that I work with has been the biggest highlight for me, I get to work with and have formed friendships with most of my current favorite bands and even some bands that I’ve really enjoyed for years now.

Record wise, the Manges tribute was my favorite release that I worked on so far, it was very stressful at times and took a lot more patience than any other project but I’m so pleased with how it turned out and I’m looking forward to the next tribute album!

● How have you managed to keep a record label running in an age of easy access digital streaming ?

Running a label isn’t easy, it takes a lot of time and money to release records, the secret to running a record label these days is to just keep throwing money into it and hoping that you can recuperate someday.

Chris From insubordination Records/sounds rad records put it perfectly “running a record label is like filling a helicopter up with cash and flying that helicopter right into a mountain”.

Streaming music is super convenient and much cheaper then buying all of the latest records that you want but those streaming services don’t pay the labels/artists anything so what can a small indie label really do?

● Any funny stories you can tell the readers about your label, or the bands you have put out ?

There’s a few funny stories that I could tell about records bombing or test presses getting rejected but the “funniest” one would have to be my first release. I did a 4 way wedding split with Horror Section, Eaten Back To Life, the Young Rochelles and the Putz. It’s a great record that I dumped a lot of money into, the marriage barely lasted a year before I filed for divorce. At least I got a killer split out of the deal right?

● What inspired the name you have given your label ?

It’s exactly what it sounds like, I lived in my moms basement off and on throughout the years and I did a lot of stuff in that basement. So it seemed fitting to name it after one of my most frequented places.

● Any rad releases you have planned you can tell us about ?

We have a bunch of killer shit coming up.

The SUCK – In-Cog-Neat-O Lp
Ponches – Quit Ep
Eaten Back To Life/Neon Bone split 7”
Passport split series vol.4
HEAD tribute album

And a bunch of other unannounced releases that people surely will love.

● If you could put out a record from any band still going/or split up, who would it be?

There are tons of great albums that need reissued, I’d love to work with the vindictives, beatnik termites, parasites, Huntingtons and so on. Also I’d love to see Ill at ease by the methadones get properly released!
