Section 5 se forman el año 1981 en Stoke, Inglaterra. la primera alineacion fue Tosh (guitarra), Sid (bajo), Rat (bateria) y Tony Boult (vocalista). quedando en claro que esta formacion no iba a funcionar. Tony fue remplazado por Dave Maskery (Mask) alrededor del año 1983, esta formacion hizo varias demos, hasta que Roddy Moreno (The Oppressed) en 1985, se fijo en ellos y firmaron con su sello Oi! Records. En ese momento Tosh paso a ser la voz principal de la banda. Fue considerada la banda mas perezosa del planeta en cuanto a hacer conciertos.
